내가 갔을 때는 한국 전통 문화를 테마로 한 해였는데, 한옥 모양 등불이나 전통 놀이를 형상화한 작품들이 많았어. 그리고 어떤 해는 세계 여러 나라를 주제로 해서 각국의 랜드마크나 문화를 표현한 조명도 있었다더라. 진짜 다채롭고 재미있었어. 그뿐만 아니라 작품 하나하나가 너무 정교해서 가까이에서 보면 감탄이 절로 나와. 사진 찍기에도 정말 좋아서 인스타그램 같은 데 올리기 딱이야.

 

When I went, it was a year themed on traditional Korean culture, so there were many lanterns shaped like Hanoks or traditional games. And some years, there were lights that depicted landmarks and cultures of various countries around the world. It was really colorful and fun. Not only that, each piece was so detailed that you couldn't help but be amazed when you looked at it up close. It's also great for taking pictures, so it's perfect for Instagram and such.

 

 

 

이 축제는 청계천에서 주로 열리는데, 물소리 들으면서 조명을 따라 걷는 기분이 정말 좋아. 특히 밤에 가면 조명 때문에 분위기가 더 살아나. 청계천 물에 비친 불빛이 반짝거리는 게 마치 다른 세상에 온 것 같아.

 

This festival is mainly held in Cheonggyecheon, and it feels really good to walk along the lights while listening to the sound of the water. The atmosphere is even more lively because of the lights at night. The lights reflecting on the water of Cheonggyecheon make it feel like you’ve come to another world.

 

 

 

사람들 다 감탄하면서 걷는 분위기라서 축제라는 느낌도 물씬 나고, 혼자 가도 전혀 어색하지 않아. 가족, 친구, 연인 누구랑 가도 다 좋을 것 같아.

 

It feels like a festival because everyone is walking around in admiration, and it’s not awkward at all to go alone. I think it would be great to go with family, friends, or a lover.

 

 

 

입장료도 대부분 무료야. 그래서 부담 없이 갈 수 있는데, 만약에 특별 체험 프로그램 같은 게 있으면 약간의 비용이 들 수도 있어. 예를 들어, 어떤 해에는 직접 등불을 만들어 보는 체험도 있었거든. 이런 건 유료였지만, 그렇게 비싸지 않고 기억에 남는 경험이라서 해볼 만해. 특히 아이들이랑 같이 가면 진짜 좋아할 것 같아.

 

Admission is mostly free. So you can go without any burden, but if there is a special experience program, it may cost a little. For example, there was an experience where you could make lanterns yourself. This was paid, but it is not that expensive and it is a memorable experience, so it is worth doing. I think children would really enjoy it, especially if you go with them.

 

 

 

근데 한 가지 팁을 주자면, 사람들이 진짜 많이 몰려. 그러니까 가급적이면 평일에 가거나, 주말이라도 조금 일찍 가는 게 좋아. 그렇지 않으면 사진 찍으려고 기다리거나, 사람들 때문에 작품을 가까이서 못 보는 경우도 있을 수 있거든.

 

But here's a tip: It gets really crowded. So, if possible, try to go on a weekday, or even a little early on the weekend. Otherwise, you might have to wait to take pictures, or you might not be able to see the artwork up close because of the crowds.

 

 

 

그리고 1월이라서 날씨가 꽤 쌀쌀해. 밤에 걸어 다니려면 따뜻하게 입고 가는 게 필수야. 목도리나 장갑 같은 것도 챙기면 더 좋고!

 

And since it's January, the weather is quite chilly. If you're going to walk around at night, you'll need to dress warmly. It's even better if you bring along things like a scarf and gloves!

 

 

 

서울빛초롱축제가 좋은 이유 중 하나는 단순히 예쁜 조명을 보는 걸 넘어서, 뭔가 스토리가 담겨 있는 느낌이 있다는 거야.

조명 작품들이 그냥 예쁘기만 한 게 아니라, 각각의 작품에 테마와 메시지가 담겨 있어서 보는 재미가 더 있거든.

 

One of the reasons why the Seoul Lantern Festival is so great is that it goes beyond just looking at pretty lights, and it feels like there’s a story behind it. The light works aren’t just pretty, but each piece has a theme and message, making it even more fun to watch.

 

 

 

그리고 한국적인 느낌이 가득해서 외국인 친구랑 같이 가도 정말 좋아할 것 같아. 실제로 외국인 관광객도 꽤 많았던 것 같아.

 

And it has a very Korean feel, so I think it would be great to go there with a foreign friend. In fact, I think there were quite a few foreign tourists.

 

 

 

그리고 축제 자체가 청계천을 중심으로 펼쳐지니까, 축제를 즐기면서 서울의 야경도 같이 감상할 수 있어. 청계천 주변에는 맛집이나 카페도 많아서 축제 구경하다가 잠깐 쉬러 가기에도 딱이야. 나중에 축제 끝나고 나서 근처에서 야식 먹고 서울의 밤을 만끽하면 하루가 꽉 찬 느낌이 들더라.

 

And since the festival itself is centered around Cheonggyecheon, you can enjoy the night view of Seoul while enjoying the festival. There are many restaurants and cafes around Cheonggyecheon, so it is a perfect place to take a break while watching the festival. After the festival, if you eat a late-night meal nearby and enjoy the night view of Seoul, it feels like the day is full.

 

 

 

내년에도 열릴 거니까 시간 맞춰서 꼭 가보자! 특히 너처럼 사진 찍는 거 좋아하는 사람이라면 이 축제가 진짜 최고일 거야. 나도 다시 갈 생각인데, 그때 같이 가자!

그리고 한 가지 더, 만약 가게 되면 카메라나 휴대폰 배터리 충분히 챙겨. 작품이 너무 많아서 사진 찍다 보면 배터리 다 쓸 수도 있어. 그리고 편한 신발 신고 가는 것도 잊지 말고. 청계천이 생각보다 길어서 계속 걸어 다녀야 하거든.

 

And one more thing, if you go, bring enough battery for your camera or phone. There are so many works of art that you might run out of battery while taking pictures. And don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes. Cheonggyecheon is longer than you think, so you’ll have to keep walking.

 

 

 

이거 진짜 강추야. 서울에서 열리는 축제 중에 밤에 가장 빛나는 축제라서, 한 번 가면 계속 생각날 거야.
